We loved working on this project in Gerrards Cross to create a dream kitchen and dining area for a family of four who love to cook and spend time together with family and friends. This project actually has two Nickleby kitchens in one space – there is the main kitchen with the AGA run and island, and a second prep kitchen with a Nickleby prep table, large countertop cupboards and banquette seating.
This is an incredible space – really light and airy – with views across the beautiful garden. As with all our projects, for us it is all about the look and feel of the kitchens – and when you walk into this project it is super calm and welcoming – a wonderful space for the whole family to enjoy.
The main kitchen has the 4 oven night store electric Aga set in a false chimney with the large kitchen island located in front of it. The island acts as the main prep area in this kitchen with the sink positioned so that the integrated dishwasher and pull out bin are just nearby. There is also an under-counter fridge on the island closest to the dining area so that things like milk are nearby for the drinks pantry.
Dining Area with Breakfast / Drinks Pantry
Locating the large breakfast / drinks pantry in the dining area of the kitchen is the perfect place for making hot drinks, and also for storing cups, saucers and glassware. Although there is another dining room in the home, this dining area in the kitchen is used most of the time and certainly on a daily basis – it’s perfectly located with the windows looking across the lovely garden.
Over in the prep kitchen there is a Nickleby prep table with an English pippy oak worktop and beautiful handmade Nickleby cabinetry throughout. This kitchen is mostly used for baking and has a large Miele oven with a gas hob above and plenty of prep space on the table which also has plenty of storage for baking trays and equipment. The full height countertop cupboards either side of the chimney provide masses of space for appliances like the kitchen aid mixer, food processor, blender and baking equipment.
Bridging the gap between the main kitchen and the prep kitchen is the large Cook’s pantry flanked on side by the column refrigerator and freezer. This ensures that the majority of the dry goods and then chilled goods are zoned together making it quick and easy to grab ingredients for those super quick mid-week meals.
