This beautiful luxury bespoke kitchen is situated in a stunning grade II listed country home in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. The clients called in to our St. Albans showroom on Holywell Hill and immediately fell in love with the newly launched Spenlow kitchen design. The original cupboard door design features a quirk bead detail which is made using traditional joinery techniques.
The kitchen cabinetry is painted in a soft grey with smoked oak accents within the drawers and the cupboards. The worktops are by Silestone, a beautiful and practical choice that is perfect for busy households.
The homeowners inherited the AGA with the previous kitchen and were really enamoured with the warmth and character that they bring to a kitchen space and so kept it in position. The clients wanted a classic bespoke kitchen that would marry the history of their 18th century listed home, but also incorporate contemporary conveniences to suit modern family living.
As the kitchen dimensions didn’t suit an island, a key priority for the clients was to incorporate a peninsula that could seat 4 comfortably as they have two small children. The peninsula also acts as a secondary food prep area and includes a food prep sink which is really useful as it positioned along the run from the AGA and therefore saves having to cross the kitchen to drain pans of boiled water. A really key practical and safety consideration given there are small children in the household.
The clients were keen to incorporate a large American style fridge freezer and selected the the Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer with French doors specifically because they open in such a way as to maximise space. Along the sink run, the worktop was break fronted to increase the surface area and has a large Kohler deerfield smart divide sink with the Perrin & Rowe phoenician tap with filtered water and also a rinse.
Below the sink run are two Miele dishwashers to ensure worktop clutter is kept to a minimum, particularly as the homeowners entertain a great deal at home. The Miele microwave is integrated into the counter top cupboard handily located just to the right of the fridge freezer. Both counter-top cupboards have bi-fold doors which means they can be left open without taking up excessive amounts of space.
