Spenlow Kitchen, St. Albans Showroom

The Spenlow kitchen in our St. Albans showroom has a mix of painted cabinetry and our bespoke Smithfield weathered oak finish with polished nickel Quilp handles throughout. The Spenlow cabinetry is a contemporary take on the traditional raised and fielded panel door and was designed by Peter Humphrey, the Design Director and Founder of Humphrey Munson.

The main kitchen has a false chimney with the Wolf dual fuel range cooker flanked by a baking countertop cupboard on one side and a drinks cupboard on the right hand side. The splashback behind the Wolf range cooker is antique effect mirror which is perfect for gently bouncing the light back across the room and also means the person cooking can see what’s happening behind them. Either side of the Wolf range cooker are wide chimney niches that are great for storing every condiments and herbs and spices.

The baking pantry offers storage space above the countertop which is great for ingredients and measuring jugs etc, while in the cupboard below are two swan neck drawers for larger items of baking equipment. Heavy countertop appliances such as the KitchenAid mixer can be left on the countertop and hidden behind the bi-fold door when not in use. The drinks pantry has an integrated Miele Nespresso coffee machine which offers the ultimate quick and easy coffee experience – great for busy households. There is space below for preparing drinks and storage space above for cups and mugs etc.

The island acts as the main prep area with the large deerfield smart divide sink positioned centrally with space for food prep either side. The sink area has the Athenian tap and rinse by Perrin & Rowe (finished in polished nickel) and a classic Quooker hot water tap, also finished in polished nickel.

On the opposite side of the kitchen. is a run of tall Spenlow cabinetry all finished in Smithfield weathered oak the new French door Sub-Zero fridge freezer positioned centrally with the large crockery cupboard to the left and a day pantry to the right. There is seating for two at the end of the island which is a great spot for breakfast or coffee and catching up on emails. Also located within the island is the Miele under-counter wine-conditioning unit which has dual temperature control so that both red, white and sparking wines can be stored at the correct temperatures. Above the island are our tapered glass pendant lights available in either polished nickel or antique brass finishes.

Within this Spenlow kitchen is also a walk in pantry with pantry tables with storage below and artisan shelves running all the way to the top creating a huge amount of storage just off the main kitchen. We love these walk in pantries because they serve a utilitarian purpose by having space for everything in a way that’s visible at a glance, but also they are designed to look as beautiful as the main kitchen. There is a pantry ladder enabling easy access to the top shelves at all times. On the other side of the staircase is a boot room with lift up seat storage and artisan peg hooks.

The flooring is a natural stone tile called Brampton Limestone Tumbled and available to order from the H|M Stone Library.
