Classic country kitchen perfect for modern family living
We were delighted to work with the homeowners of a beautiful oak-framed house situated in the beautiful Hertfordshire country to create their perfect bespoke kitchen. Built with the very best of British craftsmanship, The Manor House is a grand design that has been created with modern family life in mind. The kitchen space allowed for a large island, 10 seater dining table, separate drinks area as well as several large pantries.
The Nickleby design was chosen for its simplicity and restraint – a perfect choice for such a large space. This design really does capture the essence of the classic contemporary kitchen by using a combination of painted solid wood cupboards and natural wood accent units.
The Manor House kitchen has a series of base and wall cupboards painted in Elephant’s Breath by Farrow & Ball which, with its hint of magenta, serves as a warm contemporary grey and offsets the kitchen island which is painted in Charleston Gray and therefore provides a slightly more robust accent. There are several large tall cupboards all finished in smoked oak.
The island houses the main prep area and has a Franke sink in stainless steel, Perrin & Rowe ionian mixer tap together with a Quooker boiling hot water tap. The Gaggenau integrated dishwasher is located to the right of the sink and the Eurocargo bin is situated to the left for maximum convenience and efficiency in the kitchen particularly during dinner parties and bigger events.
The 3 oven Aga also an electric module incorporated with includes an integral grill, conventional oven, fan oven and gas hob. This brings the best of both worlds to this family kitchen – all the tradition, warmth and heritage of an Aga but with the modern convenience of gas and electric appliances.
There are a series of tall cupboards housing the drinks pantry which encompasses the Gaggenau coffee centre, Gaggenau warming drawer and ample storage, and further along the built in Series 200 Gaggenau Fridge and Freezer are both integrated behind solid smoked oak cabinetry.
Just along from the large dining table, there is a drinks area with a CDA wine cooler and storage either side for glassware and a spirits cupboard – perfect for entertaining at dinner parties and during holiday gatherings.
