A creative life online

Life is a little extra complicated for most right now, however having fun this festive season doesn’t have to be. With the rise in online courses, it opens up a whole new world of creativity whether you simply want to make cocktails with your friends over a Mixology Events course one evening or learn new long-term skills in baking or crochet, we have hand-picked a handful of our favourite courses to help see you through December – and perhaps beyond!

Since 2019 Mixology events has provided 100% interactive classes to tens of thousands of people every year. Whether it be for individuals, small groups or huge groups. As group gatherings aren’t an option right now, they’ve carried out their ethos into virtual masterclasses.

Mixology events who partner with Tatton & Tompson Liquor (for virtual classes), individually deliver everything you need for one of their virtual classes directly to your door in a neatly-presented little care package – which includes a full stainless steel professional cocktail kit (to keep afterwards), fresh ingredients, premium spirits, and other bits of useful guidance and extra recipes as standard – available anywhere in the UK and across the world via DPD or UPS international shipping. Plus the packaging is eco friendly too.

Conducted via Zoom, or the video conferencing platform of your choice, each one-and-a-half hour virtual class is carefully structured to ensure participants are still fully immersed in the art of mixology, whilst also providing a sociable environment despite the current distances between us, making it the perfect start to a ‘night in’ for a group of friends, or families.

This festive season Mixology Events and Tatton & Thompson Liquor have teamed up to once again to help lift festive spirits – virtually! Each festive cocktail box will include premium alcoholic spirits, a stainless steel professional cocktail kit, fresh ingredients (including a mystery ingredient for an end of class challenge), recipes ad useful guidance. – you can also add on a festive pack that includes crackers and party poppers etc, or why not add half a bottle of Moet?

Book your box or find out more here.

Tea and Crafting are the go-to in creating beautiful homemade items from origami, bookbinding and knitting. Their online classes are the perfect lockdown antidote and not only keep you occupied but teach you a new skill that you could turn into a long-term hobby.

This festive season you can learn how to make your very own Christmas wreath from scratch (and the comfort of your home). When you book, you will be sent a beautiful selection of seasonal blooms as well as other materials you will need to create your Christmas masterpiece.

This course is two hours long and you will learn how to make a beautiful unique wreath to adorn your door – plus you will be taught how to back your wreath, so no dirty doors for you! This is such a lovely way to spend time with your family, friends or colleagues this season. Find out more about this workshop here. Or why not peruse the other festive (or non-festive) workshops available online here.

Bread Ahead are without a doubt one of the best bakers in the uk (in our opinion anyway), their classes are informative, fun and the food is always incredible! Now you can learn the very same skills from home.

Bread Ahead’s e-learning platform means you aren’t simply joining an online workshop, you are purchasing an interactive workbook to learn from, study, save and keep as a guide before and after you join the live workshop. All you need to do is select a workbook that most interests you, select a live workshop date and checkout… all you need to do is choose which one (which might not be as easy as you think!).

The e-learning courses available includes junior baking, doughnuts, classic baking and yes our favourite – Christmas baking. Kicking off on November 29th, the classes available will include mince pies, yule logs, gluten free recipes, festive party food and gingerbread houses. The mince pie classes (if you’ve not tried a Bread Ahead mince pie you need to!) are just £25 for two hours and can be made by bakers of all skill levels.

Don’t panic, there’s more than one class if each available (some in the evenings and on the weekends) so you can fit it in around work! Find out more about these taste tantalising classes here.
