An easy way to support independent book shops

We just had to share this brilliant tip from Vogue writer Jo Rodgers on how to support your independent book shop during COVID-19.

As most of the shops and stores are now closed, Jo called up John Sandoe Books, made a payment over the phone and waited patiently for a small package of surprise books to arrive in the post.

John Sandoe, like so many independent book shops, are still open for business but, for the time being, behind closed doors. If you call up, books may be ordered for collection, and mail order to almost anywhere in the world continues as usual. Please telephone, write or email them with orders and enquiries. For those deprived of hours of contented browsing, their wonderful, funny and learned staff will be happy to discuss your book selection or reading wishes by telephone.

This would also make a wonderful gift for friends and family who are self isolated away at their homes.

Other independent book shops include:

Lutyens & Rubinstein Book Shop

London Review Book Shop

Persephone Books

Heywood Hill

One of the things we are most looking forward to once COVID-19 is over, is the installation of Jo’s project in London. You can read a little about it on Vogue.com: ‘It takes a cast of characters to renovate a London home‘.
