If designing your own home is your idea of heaven but you’re not sure where to start, then a short course might be the perfect option to kick start things.
1. U A L – C H E L S E A C O L L E G E O F A R T S
The UAL Chelsea College of Arts is offering a Renovate and Decorate online short course to help you gain design inspiration, tips and skills over a 3 day course. You will learn the essential steps to plan and manage a home decoration project all under the guidance of a professional interior designer.
You’ll learn easy methods to develop your design concept, how to use colours, lighting, materials, finishes and translate an old space into a workable, functional and stylish home design. Plus you’ll be given valuable advice on how to work with builders and other tradespeople.
For the course you’ll need to bring plans with images and measurements. If this is not yet possible your tutor will provide you with a hypothetical plan to work from. The course itself will include live sessions with the same tutors, lesson recordings, access to VLE with course content, support forums, two weeks online access and a certification upon completion.

2. K L C S C H O O L O F D E S I G N
The KLC School of Design is offering a Design your Home Interiors online beginner level course to guide you through the essential elements of designing your own homes interior – in your own time.
Perfect for those working full time or juggling home-schooling (whilst trying to staying sane right now) the course is approximately 30 hours and covers subjects such as design process, colours, usage of fabrics, trimmings, lighting, space planning to scale, soft furnishings, developing a concept, sourcing, presentation boards and managing a residential project.
The course can be accessed by any device and includes eight engaging and interactive sections. As part of the course you can choose to work through a theoretical project or can apply the coursework to your own project and watch it develop into a new creative room design, which can be applied to a real-world space/ project.

3. I N C H B A L D
Inchbald design courses are second-to-none. The Inchbald Online Design your Own Living Space course is a flexible twelve week online course which guides you through the procedure of designing and reinventing an interior space through creativity of interior design and decoration.
Teaching you to consider each element of design, decoration and the ergonomics and proportions of the space to the creative use of colour, texture, lighting, materials, furnishings and fabric choices. This practical course is most definitely for those who have an enthusiasm for design and decoration of living spaces and may even be interested in a future career in this field.
