George grew up in Wales and began potting whilst at University. After a number of years working abroad in hospitality he returned to London and began teaching himself throwing at a shared ceramics studio in Hackney. By October 2019 George branched out and set up his first studio at his sister’s house in Islington where he started potting full time.

After a wonderful first year in his London garden room studio, it was time to relocate again. In September 2020 George set up shop in the Quantock Hills, taking on an old friends pottery set in a converted stable attached to Parsonage Farm, Over Stowey.

Every piece created is handmade by George from wedging, to firing clay pots. This gives each piece an original and unique personality so whilst some designs might look the same they are subtly different.

Some of my pots are hand painted, inspired by ancient Kashan ceramics on display at the V&A. I also draw a lot of inspiration from 20th century studio pottery, as well as ancient Chinese and Japanese pots.’

‘Instagram has been an amazing platform for me to slowly move into a full time potter, through instagram I was connected with a wonderful gallery Ainscough Contemporary Art in Dartmouth, where I had my first pots on show this summer. Instagram also introduced me to Birdie Fortescue which resulted in a collaboration for her 2020/21 Autumn Winter Collection.’
