Wednesday saw the launch of the brand new HOUSE event at Olympia which is running from 17-20 June 2015. The event is a collection of prestigious, leading and emerging brands and interior design specialists specially curated by House & Garden magazine to showcase the world of interior style, design and decoration. The focus of the event is on heritage and craftsmanship, and visitors are able to source a wide range of interiors, furniture and design furnishings for every room in the home.
Held at Olympia, and located in the middle of the Spirit of Summer fair where visitors can shop for home accessories, summer wardrobe and gifts, the HOUSE event also features the HOUSE Theatre and Masterclass area.
I visited the show on Wednesday and my favourite part has to be the “The HOUSE designed by April Russell” – a spectacular showpiece house feature curated and presented the super talented and award-winning April Russell, a leading interior design studio based in London and New York. With a focus on the Art of Interiors, I was really inspired by the use of art and quirky accessories to create a beautifully designed space.
This is the entrance into the April Russell House and I just loved the Bronze Armillary Sundial by David Harper on the drawing room terrace. A peek inside the door reveals the drawing room which has a harmonious mix of fine art, furniture, accessories and textiles all cleverly combined to create a welcoming, interesting and beautifully considered space.
The stunning Clio sofa in midnight velvet is by Graham & Green and looks so comfortable and the perfect choice for the space. Also from Graham & Green is the Orion Ceiling Light which is a bold and striking choice that brings a modern mid-century feel to the space together with the “Vera” chairs by Fiona McDonald.
The “Bunny Bar” on the far wall is an exclusive design by April Russell while the art work was sourced from the Olympia International Arts & Antiques Fair (running consecutively) – “Bumps”, oil on canvas, by Alan Davie is shown above the midnight velvet sofa.
