The Kanuka Tea House opened its doors in Christopher Place, St Albans just 10 days ago and is already a bustling meeting spot for those seeking a more refined tea experience. Since 2013, founder John Hesler and his team have been carefully taste-testing teas to bring you some of the world’s finest blends that are naturally good for you.
With a selection of over 40 teas from all over the world, the idea is that when you go in – you can smell all of the teas and then choose your favourite. It’s a pretty perfect collection of contemporary, energising teas but the Kanuka team continue to explore other tea possibilities so expect to see more in the future.
It’s not surprising that loose leaf teas are much better quality than the tea found in most tea bags. Whole leaf teas produce less dust, making for a fuller flavour and better quality cuppa. Infusing whole tea leaves means the tea retains more essential oils and aroma. Another benefit of unbroken leaf is less tannins, resulting in a smoother brew.
Whole tea leaves need room to unfurl and expand to reach full flavour and this is why Kanuka Tea House prefer to infuse without the use of a bag.
To Kanuka, loose tea means fantastic taste, aroma and appearance making a more enjoyable tea drinking experience.
