PROJECT DETAILS

A light, bright London kitchen that has a spacious, calm and uncluttered feel perfectly suited to modern family living. From weekend BBQs with family and friends to speedy mid-week meals, the space can adapt to whatever is required.

Kitchen

This is a classic Nickleby kitchen – simple, symmetrical and perfectly proportioned for the space. All made by hand in our workshop in Felsted, Essex, this kitchen has been constructed by our incredible team of talented cabinetmakers using traditional joinery methods combined with modern innovation.

Island

The island acts as the central hub around which kitchen life revolves – from food prep, to catching up on emails with a cup of coffee, it’s designed with multi-purpose use in mind. The double sink by Kohler is located within the island and has the Parthian mixer tap by Perrin & Rowe and the Quooker classic hot water tap. To the left of the sink area is the Eurocargo pull out bin, while the Miele dishwasher is located to the right hand side for maximum convenience during food prep and clearing away after meals.

Cooking Run

Behind the island is the stainless steel Lacanche Cluny range cooker which is housed in a bespoke false chimney with an overmantle above to frame the space and create a focal point. The Lacanche has the classic five burner hob together with a static electric oven with and a convection electric oven – both with grills. Either side of the range cooker are counter-top cupboards – to the left hand side is an appliance cupboard housing the Kitchen Aid mixer and other handheld appliances, while the right hand side cupboard is using for coffee and breakfast items. The beauty of countertop cupboards is that they can conceal smaller appliances like toasters and free-standing coffee machines etc, which leaves the counters clear of visual clutter resulting in a space that feels calm and uncluttered.

Storage

The bank of Nickleby tall cupboards to the left of the island house the tall crockery cupboard, the column Miele refrigerator and Miele freezer as well as a Cook’s Pantry. Integrating the cooling appliances behind the Nickleby cabinetry helps to ensure the calm and collected feel to this space. The corner of this L-shaped kitchen has open artisan shelving for storing cookery books and provides additional worktop space to the kitchen.

To the left of the Lacanche range cooker and concealed behind Nickleby cabinetry is a countertop cupboard used to store coffee and breakfast items. Cupboards like this are ideal for people who love to entertain as guests can help themselves when staying for the weekend or the host can prepare multiple coffees after dinner then serve to guests at the nearby dining table – once done you simply shut the cupboard to keep everything out of sight.

Caesarstone London Grey quartz was chosen for the worktops in this kitchen. Used on both the island and perimeter it creates a clean, crisp feel as well as providing a practical countertop to prep food on.

There’s nothing better than clever storage. This bespoke cutlery drawer (finished in HM Classic oak on the interior and ‘Bowler Black’ on the exterior) means there’s plenty of room for everything the busy family needs.
