PROJECT DETAILSĀ
A large scale renovation and extension was the only way to bring this large Edwardian family home into the modern age and provide extended living space for Lily Paulson-Ellis, her husband, three children and two labradors. We were delighted to work with Lily on this project and incredibly inspired by her vision for the house which has a classic and timeless feel with all the modern conveniences we know and love. As you walk into the main hallway, the first thing that strikes you is the space – it feels much wider and more spacious than it looks and opens out towards the rear of the house into a huge light and airy room where the kitchen, dining and snug area is located together with a walk in pantry and wine room – this is the project that really does have it all! We love the architectural details and the way the extension roof was designed with exposed brick walls and crittal doors to the garden – Lily’s attention to detail is evident in every aspect of this project.

Kitchen / Pantry / Wine Storage
Capturing a modern feel with contemporary features such as the Verona quartz waterfall island and specifying the new bespoke Marton handles by Joseph Giles, this sociable kitchen was designed to scale up and down with entertaining in mind. A contemporary overmantel design set on the false chimney provides the perfect focal point for the room and houses the induction hob with two Miele ovens below. The antique effect mirror splashback is a showstopper and bounces the light back across the room and allows the cook to see what’s happening behind! Plenty of storage within countertop cupboards either side of the chimney for the coffee machine, toaster, breakfast things and other appliances with a full size crockery cupboard to the right hand side for storing all the glassware, tableware and serving ware.

The island is the workhorse of this kitchen with two dishwashers, a pull out integrated bin and a double deerfield sink with InSinkErator waste disposal. Seating at the island for three provides a space for friends to enjoy a glass of wine and additional storage either side in the cupboards.

There is masses of storage in this kitchen thanks to the French door fridge freezer and the walk in pantry which is purely for food storage. This is a cook’s kitchen so plenty of storage was essential! We also designed the wine room cabinetry which has a mix of storage with a mirror back to add interest to this area and again the crittal door keeps the balance of contemporary and classic perfectly.

Utility / Boot Room
The utility / boot room is just off the hallway and includes two double storage cupboards – one that conceals the washing machine and tumble dryer, and the other is for the hoover, ironing board etc. A sink with storage either side was a practical choice with open shelving to provide more shelving together with the full size boot / shoe storage just opposite the main storage run. Lastly, a bench seat with upholstered fabric cushion provides the perfect place for children to get their shoes on before school and also contains useful lift up storage.
