PROJECT DETAILS

The prep kitchen at this beautiful Cotswold Country House Project really captures the essence of the English country house. Nickleby cabinetry – a classic English design – provides the perfect base for this kitchen design and allows the space to flow seamlessly from the main kitchen.

Prep Kitchen

A dual control AGA is positioned in an original chimney with a bespoke overmantel designed to suit the heritage of the house perfectly. Cooking on the iconic AGA really comes into its own in the cooler months, with casseroles and ragûs largely forgotten about for the afternoon and then brought out for an early evening supper. The functionality of the dual control AGA works really well here as the boiling and simmer plates, or the ovens can be controlled independently.

Prep Table

The prep table is finished in pippy oak which has beautiful natural burrs bringing a soft feel to this room with painted drawers below. Two of the large drawers opposite the dresser conceal Wolf warming drawers – a huge undertaking for the project management and installation teams to overcome given that they are incorporated into a table with a stone floor below.

As well as cooking, this prep kitchen also offers a mix of storage thanks to the open shelves and glazed countertop dresser cupboards with large drawers below, providing masses of storage for tableware, servingware and cookware. In terms of clearing away, a large Butler sink is flanked either side by an integrated Miele dishwasher and Eurocargo pull out bin. The aged brass finish on the taps works so well in this understated space and is reflected throughout the hardware choices.

Walk In Pantry

Just off the prep kitchen as you make your way to the back of the house is the walk in pantry and cold room for storing masses of non-perishable and perishable items for when the house is hosting large shooting parties or entertaining on a big scale. Again, a mix of open shelving and drawers within the pantry provide the perfect amount of storage. Painted in H|M ‘Farthing II’ with the cabinet interiors painted in H|M ‘Linen’ ties this room in perfectly with the prep kitchen.
