Porta Romana – Where light meets art Published: 10-08-2025 Founded in 1988 by Andrew and Sarah Hills, Porta Romana is a world renowned manufacturer of lights, furniture and other objects for the home. Each piece is handmade to order by their expert craftsmans, with completely customisable options from finishes to fabric meaning every single piece is completely unique and bespoke. At HM we have worked closely with Porta Romana for many years and will continue to do so, as their dedication to craftsmanship and design aligns so closely with our own. Ascot Project At the Ascot project and in our London showroom’s Fielding dining room, the Holden Ceiling Light takes centre stage as a sculptural statement. In Ascot, a pair of these lights hangs above the Byron dining table in the open-plan kitchen, their soft cane and robust antique brass creating a striking juxtaposition of textures while subtly echoing the mid-antique brass Quilp handles from the kitchen. London Showrrom – Fielding dining room In Chelsea, the light sits above the Norton dining table, its refined detailing and texture complement the fabric of the chairs and the bespoke wood panelling. In both spaces, the Holden light elevates the room with its artistry, creating a sense of continuity, balance and thoughtful composition. Belgravia TownHouse The dining room at the Belgravia Townhouse project features the Compton Chandelier in black. The textured black cups and swooping curves create a statement focal point that is perfectly in keeping with the design of the room. The curved legs of the bespoke Norton dining table almost mirror the curves of the chandelier, drawing the eyes up through the room resulting in a cohesive and harmonious space that our clients love. Parsons Green Project The Parsons Green project features the Holden Linear Pendant Uplight. This stunning piece has four shades and a linear design that suits the room perfectly. Sitting parallel above the Lexington dining table, the eye is drawn down the room through to the garden. Porta Romana’s designs blur the lines between artistry and functionality, creating statement pieces that elevate every space they inhabit. Their commitment to craftsmanship, bespoke-ability and detail resonates deeply with our own design philosophy, allowing us to create interiors that stand out and our clients love. Whether it’s a statement chandelier or a refined pendant, these pieces do more than illuminate, they define the character of the room.
