Easy Entertaining | Basil Hummous


The quickest way to elevate hummous is to combine it with the ingredients below – you can make the hummous yourself which undoubtedly tastes superior but for speed you can use shop bought. We’ve also made this with a mixture of herbs – parsley, mint – whatever you have to hand will work to create a fresh, zingy herby dip.


  • Pot of hummous (or you can make your own if you have time!)
  • A large handful of basil
  • A small packet of pine nuts
  • 1/2 lemon
  • EVOO
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Toast the pine nuts, watch so that you don’t burn them!
  2. Blend the basil with about 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, add the pine nuts (keep a few back for decoration) and blend again.
  3. Mix into the hummous and add lemon.
  4. Season with salt and pepper and if you have them, add the pine nuts you kept back and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.

So simple, so delicious!
