A Grade II listed townhouse in a conservation area of old town Cowes, Isle of Wight, North House is surrounded by a plethora of beautiful shops, must-try restaurants, marinas and yacht clubs. North House has been recently renovated throughout but still retains many of its original features, most notably the beautiful fireplaces that gives the hotel part of its charm.

The house itself is a combination of pared back luxury with a nod to it’s nautical heritage of the surrounding town. Blue and white are the predominant colours throughout with warm tones from natural wooden tables and chairs. The whole look and feel of the house is calm, understated and welcoming.

On-site restaurant The Oyster Store is renowned for its incredible fresh seafood and delectable selection of wines which can be enjoyed on the terrace – which located just off of the restaurant – in the sunshine which is the is the ideal space to sit for long summer lunches, or as it cools the team light the fire-pit so that guests can still enjoy the terrace by the warmth of the fire.

The hotel also has a library. A cosy room where guests are invited to relax with a book, a glass of wine or dine with a board game. Alternatively you can enjoy the Sunday evening Jazz in the bar, take a dip in the outdoor heated swimming pool or try your had at a game of croquet in the garden.

14 rooms are available from cosy to comfy to spacious with some offering stunning sea or garden views. Each room has an intimate town house feel and have been individually designed with a mixture of plush cushions, Egyptian cotton sheets, wooden furniture and light painted furniture full of English charm that all combine to give North House a comfortable and refined feel.

Dining at North House is thoroughly recommended. The Oyster Store is light, stylish and comfortable restaurant with a laidback and relaxed attitude where the dishes served speak for themselves. The team of chefs focus on creating dishes of fish and seafood from the surrounding coast with a respectful nod to the seasons.

The menu includes dishes of oysters, pan roasted sea trout risotto, crab linguine and Goan curry but there are vegetarian and vegan options available also. Meat lovers can enjoy the delicious rump of Isle Wight lamb, black olive gnocchi and tomato fondue or chargrilled Combley farm sirloin steak, cooked in the Harrison oven over a real wood charcoal.

The decor of the Oyster store much like the rest of the house is wonderfully simple with Flagstone flooring, tongue and groove walls and of course, rustic wooden dining tables and chairs. The perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner during your stay.
