Recipe Notes | Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail

“A single glass of champagne imparts a feeling of exhilaration. The nerves are braced, the imagination is agreeably stirred, the wits become more nimble.

A bottle produces a contrary effect. Excess causes a comatose insensibility”.

– Winston Churchill, 1898, Malakand Field Force.

During the festive season it just feels so right to pop open a bottle of Champagne to enjoy with family and friends, and when it’s in the form of a cocktail it feels that bit more special. We love this super tasty and oh so simple to make cocktail that uses just a few ingredients but provides that all important ‘WOW’ factor…

All you need is a bottle of Champagne, a pomegranate – de-seeded, and pomegranate juice (we used this one). Simply pour the Champagne into a glass of your choosing, then pour in a good splash of pomegranate juice until it turns a beautiful red hue. Then drop in a small handful of pomegranate seeds and garnish with a twist of orange peel. That’s it! Minimum effort. Maximum effect.

P.s. If you like your drinks a little sweeter simply add a little bit of sugar syrup. Don’t worry this is easier that it sounds, simply dissolve 300g of caster sugar in 150ml of water over a low heat then leave to cool before adding to your cocktail You can even bottle the rest of the syrup for future use. OR for more of a kick to your drink (it is Christmas after all), add a splash of orange liquor like this one, we promise it will go down a treat!
