The Coach House | Inside Katharine Pooley’s country house kitchen

Published:

We have worked with Katharine Pooley’s interior design company on a number of projects and we were delighted to design, manufacture and install the kitchen and utility room for her Georgian country house residence. The Coach House is set within the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens and parkland beyond. The kitchen has Nickleby cabinetry finished in Tailored Grey with Smithfield oak interiors. Knightsbridge worktops offer a durable and low maintenance surface. The main cooking run features a traditional classic Lacanche range cooker with an induction top and two large ovens with storage drawers below. Finished in stainless steel with brass trim, these finishes were specifically chosen to work with the accents in the kitchen including the bespoke weathered brass Quilp handles.

Arched windows give a sense of scale and height to the room as well as allowing the natural light to flood in. An informal dining table offers seating for four within the kitchen, perfect for breakfast or mid-week meals.

Adjacent to the Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer is a large breakfast cupboard with space for tea and coffee making and the toaster to all be tucked away out of sight. Further along is the sink run with a large Kohler under-mount sink and Barber Wilson tap with rinse and a Quooker boiling water tap for maximum convenience.

The Padstow Natural Limestone was the perfect neutral base with a muted undertone. It combines subtle flecks of natural fossil with the occasional vein markings, resulting in just the right amount of character, giving this classic flooring a contemporary twist.
