The Pitcher Inn

Published:

The Pitcher Inn story begins in the Civil War era as a lodging house, where travellers traversing three mountain passes would stop to rest. Reimagined in 1997 from the ground up by Maggie and Heather Smith and Heather’s father Win Smith, the family were determined that The Pitcher Inn would entertain and inspire, extending a feeling of joy, hospitality and welcome from Vermont to the world.

Nestled in the charming village of Warren, Vermont The Pitcher Inn offers Relais & Châteaux hotel luxury in a super relaxed, cosy and welcoming setting and is the perfect base from which to explore the Mad River Valley.

Home to a fine dining experience where fresh and seasonal ingredients come together for an inspired and sophisticated farm-to-table menu. Paired with a vintage wine or a craft beer, a meal at The Pitcher Inn is absolutely exceptional – super relaxed, super comfortable and super delicious.

Wine Spectator honoured The Pitcher Inn with its “Best Award of Excellence” for our wine cellar, featuring nearly 500 bottles, from small producers and some of the world’s finest wine growing regions. There are several areas to dine including the main dining room – elegantly casual space with charcoal walls, cherry tables, and a cognac leather Chesterfield sofa surveying the village centre (pictured above).

Alternatively you can dine at Tracks which is a supremely low key and relaxed area located downstairs with a deep backcountry décor that invites you to sink into comfy living-room-style seating. One menu that can be enjoyed in two distinctive venues.

Offering an extraordinary mix of individual guest rooms and suites, the Pitcher Inn offers distinctly individual rooms that are so well-appointed with eclectic décor.

The luxury accommodation is traditional, fanciful, and unexpected but all the while maintaining that slow, relaxed vibe.

Top tip – while the evening dinners are exceptional, the breakfasts are not to be missed!

There is so much to see and do in Vermont and if you’re planning a visit it will be hard to pick which season to visit in, although the autumn scenery is particularly spectacular. Visit the fantastic Vermont vacation website here which has so much information to help plan your trip.
