We only source and stock the flooring that we love and there are two key requirements – it has to look absolutely stunning but it also has to have the durability and low-maintenance required to ensure the flooring is future proofed for years to come.
This is the contemporary Spenlow kitchen at a project in Chelmsford, Essex. The Babington flooring works so perfectly with the cabinetry both in the kitchen and the hallway which has Spenlow cupboards and a cloakroom area.
Limestone is a fantastic material for floor tiling – it is extremely durable and because the grout is sealed at the same time as the tiles, the finish looks absolutely fantastic years on. We have the Babington flooring in our St. Albans and Felsted showrooms and it is so easy to clean and maintain.
The other really great thing about natural stone flooring is that it really develops over time which gives it a really wonderful sense of character and depth.
At the Barnes project, the homeowners have a black labrador called Baxter – and as all labrador owners know – this breed can really shed especially in the summer. Fortunately you just don’t see it against the Babington natural limestone so unlike a surface like porcelain – which would show up every single strand of hair – the natural stone flooring is much easier to live with day to day.
Natural stone flooring varies in terms of the colouring and the finish which all adds to the character and works exceptionally well with classic English kitchen design.
The Barnes kitchen has a lovely natural feel to it thanks to the Westminster smoked oak accents throughout and the stone flooring – it gives the project a really balanced look and feel.
In the Grange project in Ascot, Berkshire – the Babington natural limestone was installed across most of the ground floor – the kitchen, sitting area, utility room, boot room, hallway, laundry room – it was an enormous area to cover and because of the variation in the colouring of natural stone, our supplier worked really diligently to ensure the consistency of the order.
