Daylesford hold Chef’s Skills Masterclasses on the second Sunday of every month; whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced cook, this is a chance to learn or hone all the essential skills and techniques of classic cookery.
…And this time of year, there is also a selection of seasonal workshops.
Here’s an overview of a few of our favourites:
There’s The Perfect Christmas Table: From mulled drinks to stunning centrepieces, delicious sweet treats and nibbles, as well as tips and techniques for the all important turkey, this is a must for anyone taking the helm in the kitchen this Christmas.
Canapés; introducing you to a series of delicious festive canapé ideas, demonstrating techniques and methods so that you can create your own platter of festive nibbles. Including classic Christmas flavours and seasonal ideas, touching on flavour combinations, presentation tips and how to prepare in advance so you can enjoy the party too!
Main Course; demonstrating elements of the traditional Christmas Day recipes before hands-on cooking your own dishes. The evening focusses on the all-important roast turkey with all the trimmings, how to make rich flavourful gravy, perfect roast potatoes and classic accompaniments as well as imaginative ideas for seasonal vegetables.
Puddings; creating three show-stopping seasonal desserts, all designed as the perfect pudding and giving you plenty of ideas for alternatives to Christmas Pudding.
Show-Stopping Canapés; unsurprisingly, the canapé classes are always a sell out. Whether to kick off a dinner party or as the main event to accompany drinks, canapés are the first morsel your guests will try and a great chance to make an impression – for that they should be nothing short of ‘show-stopping’ (we recently attended a show-stopping canapés class at Daylesford, you can read about our day here).
Christmas Barbecue; with many people apprehensive about going beyond burgers and sausages, this full day course is designed to inspire you with confidence and ideas to take your Al Fresco eating to the next level through cooking and sampling organic meat and vegetables. Whether you’re cooking fillet steaks, delicate fish, vegetables or even puddings, you will learn failsafe techniques and skills as well as advice on choosing the perfect cuts of meat and fish to pop on the grill.
