SWIFTS | x Humphrey Munson

We recently had the tremendous pleasure of working with Swifts on an incredible project in Thaxted, Essex. Designed by David Swift himself,  this project was a complete refurbishment, transforming the gargantuan 10,000 sq ft property into a dream home for modern family living.

Who are Swifts?

At the forefront of design and management, David and Emily Swift are freelance designers with a broad skill set that covers digital, graphic and interior design. Swifts have experience working with large global clients and a growing number of high net worth private clients, shaping the company into what it is today.

Swifts works alongside expert consultants and trades to bring together the design of a development in a way that clients can fully visualise the end result. This includes building photo realistic 3D visuals from architectural plans, digital walkthroughs of the property to show how it will be built and finished, and managing investment finance and spend for the projects.

Light bright and airy, the kitchen in this project is perfectly suited to the new open plan space.

Zoned into clear spaces for food prep, clearing away and cooking, this Nickleby kitchen has been designed for everyday family life as well as entertaining multiple guests when needed.

The island is finished in the bespoke HM paint colour Brolly Blue (a colour made exclusively for Humphrey Munson by Mylands) and is used as the main food prep area. The light and bright Verona quartz worktop works in perfect contrast with the dark island which features a Miele induction hob and downdraft extraction, so there’s no need for a false chimney.

The cooking and sink run behind the island has been finished in HM Tailored Grey. To the right of the run are two built in Miele single ovens with cupboards above and below providing plenty of storage. To the left of the run is the all important sink run that features a Villeroy & Boch sink and Perrin & Rowe Phoenician tap in polished nickel to match the surrounding hardware. Behind the sink is a large antique effect mirror splashback to bounce light back across the space and provides the host with a way of connecting to family or guests sat at the island and soft seating area behind.

Beyond the island is a large orangery used as a dining and soft seating area.

With dream garden views, the orangery provides a 180° view of the surrounding scenery – the perfect spot to watch the seasons change.

We just love the calm clean interior design of this home. Each and every space makes full use of all the available natural light, like the bedroom pictured above for example. A spacious haven to escape to with large windows to enjoy the surrounding country views has to be an incredible place to wake up in the morning.
