We asked Tielle Love Luxury to share their best tips for creating the perfect night’s sleep…

1. How to choose a mattress…

We spend a third of our lives in bed, so it’s important to find the best mattress that’s right for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all mattress, so it’s important to consider what feels right for you and how you sleep, as well as your body temperature, and who will be using the mattress. There’s a wide range of mattresses to consider, from memory foam, hybrid, spring or natural, so the choice can feel overwhelming. A hybrid mattress is a good place to start for those who can’t choose between memory foam and pocket spring, as it combines pocket springs to support you whilst sleeping and is topped off with memory foam for extra comfort.

2. Why add a topper to a mattress?

Mattress toppers will give you an extra bit of comfort ensuring you sleep soundly and wake fresh as a daisy. Tielle Love Luxury’s unique blend of 70% feather and 30% down mattress toppers are encased in a high-quality cotton case and finished with elastic straps to anchor it to the bed.

3. How important is thread count?

Most people assume that with bedlinen, a higher thread count is a measure of quality and comfort, but there are so many factors at play. A 300tc or 400tc bedsheet woven from good quality cotton usually provides all the luxe factor you need. It’s also the thread count of choice for many top hotels. Tielle Love Luxury always recommends classic white sheets rather than coloured as these stay fresh looking and never go out of style.

4. Everyone has a different opinion about duvets – how do you choose?

Whether you love the delicate warmth of a down fill or prefer to snuggle under something plumper and heavier, it’s important to choose the right duvet for you. Tielle Love Luxury’s collection of duvets promise to keep you the perfect temperature and comfortable all-night long. The tog rating and filling affect the weight and warmth of a duvet. The higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet. When you’re picking a duvet, it’s important to consider the temperature of your home and bedroom and your body temperature when your sleep.

A snug, billowy feather and down duvet is the mainstay of any luxury retreat or hotel. Pro tip: Many top hotels use a natural filled 10.5 tog duvet to get the right weight, look and feel for their hotel, and to create a fabulous night’s sleep for their guests. A 10.5 tog duvet provides perfect all year-round comfort for almost all UK homes.

5. What pillow will give the perfect mix of luxury and support?

There’s no ‘best for everyone pillow’ – your sleeping position and personal preferences can affect the one you’ll love best. Many top hotels find a high quality feather and down pillow provides guests with the perfect balance of luxury, softness and support.

Most natural pillows are a mix of feathers and down. Down provides insulation and warmth; feather offers structure and support. A high quality down pillow filling will contain larger-than-average down clusters to help trap more air and provide a sumptuously warm and cosy sleep experience. Many people find a 70% feather and 30% down pillow offers the perfect balance of softness and support and our Savoy Duck Feather and Down Pillow is one of the most popular pillows.

Think about your sleeping position before buying a natural or microfibre pillow. Soft fillings are more suitable for back and front sleepers, while a firmer pillow is preferable for side sleepers. Fillings such as microfibre or feather pillows in anti-allergy casings may be better if you suffer from house dust mites. If you’re a bedtime reader, you may also want an extra firm pillow or to invest in oversized pillows to prop you up and support your back and neck. Memory foam pillows and curved pillows can also provide neck support.
