The story of how Twin Farms came to be how we know it today begins with Sinclair Lewis. If you aren’t aware, Sinclair Lewis is a Nobel prize-winning author who proposed to a journalist called Dorothy Thompson, she promised to marry him if he bought her a farm in Vermont with sweeping lawns, orchards, and “delicious air.” They found their idyll in a 1795-era farmhouse on 300 acres — which they purchased in 1928 for $10,000 (a substantial such of money at the time).

Soon after a spa, chalet, aviary and farmhouse at the Copper hill in 2005 brought the number of accommodations to 20, where it remains today. Each season brings a myriad of possibilities at Twin Farms and promises to be more beautiful than the last. Spring offers hikes in the woods with a picnic to follow, then later in the evening a trip to the pub where you can compete in a friendly game of billiards whilst enjoying music from the jukebox.
